The Supreme Court of the United States will honor the memory of the late Justice Antonin Scalia on November 4 with a meeting of the Supreme Court's Bar, followed by a special sitting of the Court.

The Bar meeting  at 1:45 p.m. in the Upper Great Hall  will feature remarks by the Acting Solicitor General of the United States Ian H. Gershengorn; Time Warner Executive Vice President and General Counsel Paul T. Cappuccio; Gibson Dunn & Crutcher partner Kristin A. Linsley; George Washington University Professor of Law Bradford R. Clark; Kirkland & Ellis partner Paul D. Clement; and U.S. Circuit Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton. Paul T. Cappuccio will serve as chairman of the meeting. At the meeting's conclusion, Bar members are expected to adopt a commemorative resolution. New York University Professor of Law Rachel E. Barkow will move the resolution. Paul T. Cappuccio, Kristin A. Linsley, Bradford R. Clark, Paul D. Clement, Jeffrey S. Sutton, and Rachel E. Barkow all clerked for Justice Scalia. The Bar meeting will be streamed live on the Court's website, www.supremecourt.gov.

A Special Session of the Court will be held in the Courtroom at 3 p.m. Acting Solicitor General of the United States Ian H. Gershengorn and Attorney General of the United States Loretta E. Lynch will address the Court. Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. will respond on behalf of the Court. Attendance at the memorial sitting and meeting of the Bar is by invitation.

Members of the press corps are welcome to attend both events; please notify the Public Information Office if you intend to do so. The reception that follows the memorial sitting is closed to the press. We will make every effort to provide copies of all remarks as well as the commemorative resolution in advance.
