The Court will begin work next week on a project to repair and preserve the building’s exterior marble façade.  The project, which will be completed in stages, will continue for approximately 21 months.

In 2005 a modillion from the front pediment fell to the plaza, prompting the installation of protective netting while surveys of the marble could be conducted.  A stone conservation consultant recommended a course of treatment that will include cleaning, pointing, bird deterrent removal, stone consolidation to prevent further deterioration, and necessary repairs.

The project will require the erection of scaffolding on the west side of the building.  The scaffolding and ongoing conservation work will be concealed by a scrim that will mimic the Court’s architecture.  The scaffolding and construction work will not impede entry and exit to the building.
