  • The Court will convene for a public session in the Courtroom at 10 a.m. The Justices will hear two oral arguments. An audio feed will be live-streamed, and the audio will be available on the Court's website later in the day.
  • The Court may announce opinions, which are posted on the homepage after announcement from the Bench.
  • Seating for the oral argument session will be provided to the public, members of the Supreme Court Bar, and press. The three minute line will be temporarily suspended. The Supreme Court Building will be otherwise closed to the public.

O’Connor-Ratcliff v. Garnier (22-324)
The Ninth Circuit’s judgment—that 42 U. S. C. §1983’s state-action requirement was satisfied because of the “close nexus” between petitioners’ social media pages and their positions as public officials—is vacated, and the case is remanded in light of Lindke v. Freed, 601 U. S. ___.

         
Lindke v. Freed (22-611)
A public official who prevents someone from commenting on the official’s social-media page engages in state action under 42 U. S. C. §1983 only if the official both (1) possessed actual authority to speak on the State’s behalf on a particular matter, and (2) purported to exercise that authority when speaking in the relevant social-media posts.

         
Pulsifer v. United States (22-340)
A criminal defendant facing a mandatory minimum sentence is eligible for safety-valve relief under 18 U. S. C. §3553(f)(1) only if the defendant satisfies each of the provision’s three conditions.

Trump v. Anderson (23-719) (Per Curiam)
Because the Constitution makes Congress, rather than the States, responsible for enforcing Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment against federal officeholders and candidates, the Colorado Supreme Court erred in ordering former President Trump excluded from the 2024 Presidential primary ballot.

An Advocate for Equality


Ruth Bader Ginsburg, born March 15, 1933, had a distinguished career advancing equal rights. While teaching at Rutgers and Columbia Law Schools, she co-founded the Women’s Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union. Arguing before the Supreme Court six times, Ginsburg became a trailblazing lawyer in the field of gender equality. Once on the Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg authored the majority opinion in United States  v. Virginia (1996), which held that the male-only admissions policy at the state-funded Virginia Military Institute violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution.
